Paul Samuelson was the most significant economist of the last century. Even though I do not share his policy views, I deeply admire his work (he called himself a centrist; I see him left of center; I am right of center). No other economist had such an impact on the profession. Even the conservative WSJ calls him the "Titan of Economics". He truly was. What a loss! After Friedman another giant has left us. Here and here some further information.
